By scoring his second century in the World Cup 2023, he completed his 49th century in ODI cricket and equaled Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. Virat achieved this feat in his 289th match only. Whereas Sachin had scored 49 centuries while playing 463 matches in his entire ODI career.

Virat Kohli played an excellent innings against South Africa and scored his historic century in 119 balls. The meaning of this century was also special because he achieved this milestone on the occasion of his 35th birthday. He also became the seventh batsman to score a century on his birthday. Before him, Mitchell Marsh, Tom Latham, Ross Taylor, Sanath Jayasuriya, Sachin Tendulkar, and Vinod Kambli had done this. This is Virat’s fourth century in the ODI World Cup.
