Migrant Laborer From UP Shot Dead by Terrorists in Pulwama

Srinagar | A man from Uttar Pradesh died after being shot by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday, officials said. He said that Mukesh Singh was shot at around 12.45 pm in Rajpora area of Pulwama district. This was the second terrorist attack in Kashmir Valley in the last 24 hours. Terrorists shot at a police officer and seriously injured him in Idgah area of Srinagar.

A laborer was shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama, who later succumbed to his injuries, Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed on Monday. The non-local worker has been identified as Mukesh who was a resident of Uttar Pradesh. Police said the area has been cordoned off and security has been increased.

The incident comes a day after a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist opened fire on Jammu and Kashmir Police at a cricket ground when off-duty policeman Masroor Ahmed Wani was playing cricket at the Eidgah playground. A terrorist shot three bullets in the eye, stomach and neck from close range. Vani was operated on and his condition is critical.

While more details are awaited on Monday’s terror attack targeting a migrant labourer, security forces have intensified checking of vehicles and pedestrians in Pulwama following the attack on Inspector Wani. Police said mobile vehicle check posts have been set up at all major intersections in Srinagar as well as at exit points of the city.

On Monday morning, security forces foiled an infiltration attempt by killing a terrorist along the Line of Control in Kupwara district, officials said. An infiltration attempt was foiled in Jumagund area of Keran sector on Sunday night. He said that the body of the terrorist was recovered during a search in the area on Monday morning. Officials said that the search operation is still going on.
